Summer Internship Programme - Technology - Artificial Intelligence - 2025

The Summer Internship Programme is for candidates in their penultimate year of a bachelor’s or master’s degree, graduating in 2026.

This program is designed to provide students with a challenging, meaningful and supportive internship experience that replicates, as closely as possible, the experience of being a full-time BlackRock Analyst. The program begins with an orientation that offers a thorough overview of the firm and the opportunity to hear from a number of senior leaders.

Following orientation, interns receive on-the-job training and are given day-to-day responsibilities to contribute to their teams throughout the summer. Programming also features a speaker series, mentoring and various networking opportunities, including activities with our employee networks.

Important:

Candidates can apply for only one programme (e.g., Summer Internship Programme or Off-Cycle Internship Programme) and up to two functions within that programme (e.g., Investment Research and Analytics & Modeling). You must apply for both opportunities using the same programme application. If you withdraw your application, you cannot submit another application for this programme this year.

Aladdin Engineering

We build products and services to meet the needs of BlackRock and our clients. The team is made up of software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, quant developers, DevOps engineers, product managers, business analysts, UX engineers, UX designers and more – all working to drive innovation in the financial services industry

Analytics

• Applied Analytics: Enhancing outcomes for investment decisions with actionable portfolio insights through analytics.
• Analytics Delivery & Adoption: Analytics and model delivery to our partners through thought leadership and platform initiatives.

Quantitative Modeling

Research and develop financial models underpinning risk management analytics.

AI Labs

Software engineers at BlackRock get to experience working at one of the most recognised financial companies in the world while being part of a software development team responsible for next-generation technologies and solutions. Our engineers design and build large-scale data storage, computation and distribution systems. They partner with data and analytics experts to deliver high-quality analytical and derived data to our clients.

Data

Data is at the heart of Aladdin, and increasingly, the ability to consume, store, analyse and gain insight from data has become a key component of our competitive advantage. Our goal is to build and maintain a leading edge data platform that provides highly available, consistent data of the highest quality for all users of the platform – notably investors, operations teams and data scientists. We focus on evolving our platform to deliver exponential scale to the firm, powering the future growth of Aladdin.

This function is known for:

• Using AI, such as machine learning and generative AI, to develop predictive models, optimisation techniques, automate processes and generate insights from large datasets 
• Applying AI within investments, user experience and productivity

What will you do as an Analyst?

• Be part of a dynamic team that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI
• Developing and implementing cutting-edge AI technologies to solve complex business problems

What capabilities are we looking for?

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python
• Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools; knowledge of data analysis and visualisation techniques may be beneficial
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
